Who this page is for
This page is for anyone with a Cheffar account — hosts and cooks — on cheffar.com, the web product, and the Cheffar Android and iOS apps. It is the public account-deletion resource for app store listings.
It sits with our Privacy policy (how we handle personal information) and Terms of service (the rules for using Cheffar). If anything here conflicts with the Privacy policy, the Privacy policy controls how we process data.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information from how you use Cheffar, and limited information from partners that help us run bookings, messages, and payments. What we hold depends on whether you are a host, a cook, or both, and which features you use.
- Account: name, email, phone, password or sign-in tokens, profile photo, role (host or cook), language, timezone, market, and display currency.
- Host details: city and address you enter for gatherings, access notes, house and kitchen notes, emergency contact if you add one, saved cooks, and gift credit records.
- Cook details: specialty, cities served, cuisine types, menus, gallery photos, labor fee, availability, store plates, reviews, and payout details (bank or mobile-wallet network, account holder name, and account number). We do not store full card numbers or mobile-wallet PINs when a payment partner processes a charge.
- Cook screening: identity document type and images, food-safety or professional credentials, training status, and links you share as craft proof.
- Bookings: date, time, location as you provide it, occasion notes, guest count, menu preferences, dietary needs, booking status, and reviews you leave or receive.
- Messages: chat between host and cook about a booking, including photos you send in that thread.
- Money: labor fee, market budget, any published support fee, payment and payout status, purse/wallet balance and top-ups, store orders, receipts, and payment-intent records (including crypto collect details where that method is offered).
- Support: messages and attachments you send to Cheffar, and the name, email, phone, and role you put on a contact form.
- App and device: IP address, browser or app version, screens viewed, diagnostic logs, crash reports, and push-notification tokens so we can send booking and security alerts.
- Approximate location: city or market you choose, and a coarse location derived from IP. Street-level location is only stored when you type it for a booking or profile.
- Photos: profile, cook gallery, menus, identity documents, and images you pick from your library when a flow asks for them.
- Optional microphone: the app may request microphone access for in-app audio. We only store a recording if you create and send one.
- On-device biometrics: Face ID or device unlock, if you turn it on, stays on your phone. Cheffar does not receive your biometric template.
How we use this information
We use this information to:
- Create and secure your account, and show the host or cook product that matches your role.
- Let you browse cooks, book a meal in your kitchen, message about menu and timing, and complete shopping and service.
- Collect payment, hold funds until shopping and the meal are done, release or refund under the booking rules, and pay cooks.
- Screen cooks, review reports, and keep the home kitchen safe.
- Send transactional messages: booking updates, receipts, payout notices, and security alerts. Marketing only where you opted in or local law allows, with an opt-out.
- Fix bugs, keep the product reliable, and understand usage in aggregate.
- Meet legal, tax, accounting, and payment-partner duties.
How to request account deletion
You can ask us to close your Cheffar account without signing in to the Android or iOS app. Use any one of these paths. We treat them the same.
- Web (no app login): open https://cheffar.com/contact, choose topic “Delete my account,” and send the form. You can also start from https://cheffar.com/legal/account.
- Email: write to support@cheffar.com with the subject “Delete my Cheffar account.”
- Signed in on the website: Host Settings → Security → Delete account, or Cook Settings → Security → Delete account. That opens Help & support with the deletion topic selected.
- Signed in on the Cheffar app: Account → Settings → Security → Contact support to delete, or Help & support. Choose “Delete my account.”
What to include in your request
We need enough to find the right account and to avoid deleting someone else’s. Include:
- The email address on the Cheffar account (required).
- The phone number on the account, if you added one.
- Whether you are a host, a cook, or both.
- Any booking IDs still open, if you know them.
- A short note that you want the account deleted, not paused.
What we delete
When the request is completed, we close the account so you can no longer sign in. We then delete or irreversibly de-identify personal information we no longer need, including:
- Profile name, photo, phone, saved cooks, menus, gallery, and public listing content.
- Messages and in-app support threads tied to the account, except what we must keep under “What we keep.”
- Push tokens, session tokens, and app diagnostic records that identify the account.
- Identity-document images from cook screening, once any required screening or legal hold has ended.
- Purse/wallet credentials stored for the account, after open money movement is finished.
What we keep and why
Some records cannot be erased immediately, or must be kept in a limited form. We keep only what the purpose requires, then delete or de-identify it when that purpose ends.
- Payment, tax, and accounting records (labor fee, market budget, payouts, refunds) for the period law and payment partners require.
- Records needed to finish or unwind an open booking, held funds, a dispute, or a refund.
- Trust and safety records where there is an active investigation, a legal claim, or a duty to report.
- Information we must keep to comply with a lawful request from authorities.
- Aggregated or de-identified usage data that can no longer identify you.
Open bookings and held funds
If you have an upcoming gathering, money we are still holding, or a payout that has not cleared, we review the request before the account is closed. We may cancel remaining bookings under the booking rules, complete a refund or payout, or ask you a short follow-up so funds are not stranded.
You pay once. We hold your money until the meal is done — or until a cancel or refund path applies. Deletion does not skip those money steps.
How long deletion takes
We aim to confirm your request within a few days and to complete deletion within 30 days of a verified request, unless a booking, held funds, dispute, or legal duty requires a longer hold.
Backup systems may retain residual copies for a short period until they rotate. Those copies are not used to restore a closed account.
After the account is closed
You will not be able to sign in. Profile and listing pages stop showing your personal details. A new account later is a new account — we do not restore the old one.
Closing Cheffar does not close your Google, Apple, or other sign-in provider account. Manage those in the provider’s own settings.
